An unconditional gift
I'm the happy recipient of Tsunamika, the doll with a powerful message of hope, generosity and unconditional giving.A year after the Tsunami, the project which is funded by Concern Worldwide is concieved and executed in Auroville in Southern India and employs fisherwomen from Tsunami-ravaged villages to create tiny little dolls, aptly named Tsunamika. The team who trained the women, supplies them with raw materials and they are bought in bulk and distributed unconditionally all over the world. The most beautiful aspect of the whole project is not the income generation for the fisherwomen but the fact that so many people have come together for a common cause and working for it without expecting anything in return.Tsunamika comes in many forms-as hairclips,a book mark or even a paper-clip(like the one i got!)and is seen as a symbol of rebuilding and growth, not just for the fisherwomen from the tsunami-ravaged villages, but for the whole world.Kudos to the resilient human spirit and the power of moving forward in all of us! :)This made my day! :)Where to get Tsunamikas in US
